Yesterday, May 25, 2025, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway roared to life for the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500, and among the high-octane spectacle was a standout star: Dogecoin.
The meme-inspired cryptocurrency, with its iconic Shiba Inu mascot, made a bold appearance on Devlin DeFrancesco’s No. 30 Honda, driven by a partnership that blended racing, charity, and crypto culture. While the Dogecoin car didn’t claim victory, its presence marked a historic moment for cryptocurrency in motorsport and left an indelible mark on fans worldwide.
A Crypto-Charged Partnership
The Dogecoin Indy 500 campaign was a collaboration between the Dogecoin Foundation, House of Doge, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL), and driver Devlin DeFrancesco. RLL, co-owned by racing legend Bobby Rahal, David Letterman, and Mike Lanigan, brought its storied history to the event, while DeFrancesco, a vocal Dogecoin enthusiast since 2020, added personal passion to the mix. The initiative wasn’t just about branding a race car—it was about merging the thrill of motorsport with a mission to give back.
Fans played a pivotal role in the lead-up to the race. From March 19 to March 25, the Dogecoin community voted on three vibrant car liveries—Blaze, Turbowave, and BananaBoost—ultimately selecting the fiery “Blaze” design. This striking livery, featuring the Shiba Inu logo, adorned both DeFrancesco’s car and helmet, turning heads as it zoomed around the track at speeds exceeding 230 mph. The community-driven effort didn’t stop at aesthetics; it extended to a fundraising campaign that raised over 117,947 DOGE (approximately $26,000) for Riley Children’s Foundation, supporting life-saving care for newborns at Riley Children’s Health.
Looking Ahead
While Álex Palou claimed the Indy 500 victory, the Dogecoin car captured hearts and headlines. The “Blaze” livery, though not ranked among the top 10 Indy 500 liveries by Motor Sport Magazine, was hailed as “probably the most infamous livery seen for a while,” thanks to the Shiba Inu’s undeniable charm.
Dogecoin to the Moon or Bust!
Whether you’re a crypto enthusiast, a racing fan, or both, yesterday’s Indy 500 was a thrilling showcase of Dogecoin’s spirit. Stay tuned for more updates on Dogecoin’s journey, and maybe next year, we’ll see that Shiba Inu cross the finish line first. For now, the Dogecoin community can celebrate a day of speed, generosity, and history in the making.
